Well, we have had a pretty uneventful week. Cole has been doing pretty well. His eyes are giving him some problems at this time. Seems like the past few mornings he has had some really red eyes which in turn makes his nose run and many oral secretions. Any suggestions? We use Restasis and Lacrilube to help keep his eyes "moistened" since he is unable to blink or close his eyes all the way. I would love to know what other SMA children are using for their eyes if they have similar situations. We decided this week we are going to watch the Free Willy series.........I thought of you right away Casey O'Neill.!! Do you still love those movies? Extremely cold here this past week, we don't leave the house if we don't have to!! Temp at this time is -17 degrees, yes, that is a NEGATIVE 17!!

Cole has had a great last few days!! So fun to be able to say that day after day. As we all are very aware with our children, that is not always the case. And I am very thankful for this! Cole has been busy learning about penguins with his teachers and also doing lots of extra things at home to learn about them too. We watched Marching with the Penguins. It had been a long time since we had watched that movie. It still amazes me what a great movie it is. Cole and Ashley, his PCA, have been busy working on his new bulletin board about penguins. It really brightened up his room!! Today we watched the new Karate Kid movie. Very, very good movie. We even had to put off doing the vest until it was done. We were all very into the movie. I am taking a break now and Cole is out in great room with Dad and other siblings watching some TV. I am sure some "boy" stuff. LOL

What a great weekend!! Short on nursing = some really great family time!! Cole had a great weekend and is looking great. Dad got his TV mounted on the wall and it can now swivel and tilt to where Cole is sitting. Watched lots of interesting shows on TV and even watched Bull Riding, which was fun.... Cole is going to start watching CNN Kids News each morning. His teachers will "quiz" him on the news when they get here on Monday's. But, we think it will be fun to watch as often as possible. If anyone hasn't checked it out, please do so. It is very interesting, especially for kids... Cole spent lots of time cuddling with puppy and kitty also. Since we moved Cole's room around, the pets seem to be liking it also and want to spend lots of time in bed. LOL

Another good day for Cole. Started out on a bit of oxygen, but went to room air within a few hours and looked fabulous after that. We decided to "move" his room around to give him a different view. Now tonight we are going to ask Dad to hang his flat screen on the wall.....Hopefully he isn't too tired. Another snowy blustery day here with lots of people in the ditch, so he has been busy. Not much for nursing coverage today and this weekend, so it will be lots of family time!!

Cole's Week
Cole has had a rough past week. High heart rates, low oxygen and requiring oxygen (he is normally always on room air), lots of high pressures and lots of suctioning. We are now on two oral antibiotics and also doing Tobi Nebs. The Tobi Nebs always seem to work wonders. Please keep him in your thoughts. P.S. This is my first time blogging.........hopefully I catch on to all this!!
